Robot Arm
MAE189 Team 2: Robot Arm
Background: As part of the MAE189 Capstone project our team will design, build, and test a Robot Arm. Its intended function is to perform automated tasks in a precise and repeatable manner.
Goal and Objectives:
A key function of our Robot Arm design is the implementation of a proxy arm to control and program the arm's motion. The goal is to create an intuitive user interface that can quickly repurpose the arm for the task at hand.
- Week 2: Identify viable forms for the Robot Arm
- Week 5: Design/manufacturer prototype for verification and validation of our design requirements.
- Week 7: Final design of aesthetics and implementation of Proto 1 revisions, and testing.
- Week 8-9: Manufacture final design.
- More Information: Our inspiration for this proxy arm is from a youtube video demonstrating the control and programming of a robot arm. In this video, a button is pressed to begin recording the proxy arms' motion. It can be controlled in real-time or the motion recorded for playback. Unfortunately, the video has since been made private.
