DiagNose

Summary

DiagNose

Making speech assessment accessible through a portable, child-friendly nasometer.

About us

For a child born with a cleft palate, surgery is only the beginning of the journey. The real challenge is finding their voice. In low-income countries, where the majority of cleft palate cases occur, the 'gold standard' for diagnosing hypernasality is a clinician's ear. It is subjective, inconsistent, and prone to error. While objective tools like nasometers exist, they cost thousands of dollars, making them inaccessible in the communities that need them the most. We at DiagNose seek to change that with tinytalk.

The Mission

Redefining how we measure and analyze speech nasality.

tinytalk was born from the need to identify nasal air emission and hypernasality in children with cleft palate that is affordable and portable. By combining high-tech sensors with modern mobile technology, we provide a seamless experience for both clinicians and patients.

Technical Approach/Methodology

Introducing tinytalk

tinytalk features two microphones: one for the nose and one for the mouth. The microphones are separated with a magnetic base plate which creates a seal between the oral and nasal cavities and allows for endless customization of microphones. In addition, our handle is fully adjustable, allowing for multiple configurations and portability.

Portable

Current Nasometers are bulky and require stationary hardware. tinytalk fits in a backpack and pairs instantly with your smartphone.

Affordable

DiagNose focuses on accessibility above all else. We aim to provide patients with high-quality diagnostic tools without financial barriers to care.

We're driving the future of speech diagnostics with cost-effective, streamlined solutions.
