Anteater Electric Racing

Background:

The project focuses on converting the current direct-actuation setup into a pushrod–bell crank suspension, enabling tunable motion ratios, improved serviceability, and better sensor integration. Additionally, the team is designing custom hubs and welded sheet-metal uprights, replacing machined aluminum parts to reduce cost and allow full in-house fabrication within UCI’s student machine shop.

Goal and Objectives:

The redesigned system is expected to enhance performance in dynamic events such as autocross and skidpad, while strengthening the team’s ability to own its manufacturing process. Through iterative analysis, trade studies, and prototype testing, Team 33 aims to deliver a validated rear suspension ready for full-vehicle integration on the 2025 Anteater Electric Racing car.
