Advanced Quality Ultrapure Abstraction (via) SOLar energy (AQUASOL)
Background
AQUASOL is a project focused on revitalizing the future of clean drinkable water on our planet. Our team of engineers will design and produce a system that will transform beach water into clean drinkable water using thermodynamic and fluid dynamic principles. Generating most of the power from the sun we can provide our product in almost any part of the world that is near an ocean. For the foreseeable future we hope to be able to provide clean and drinkable water for communities in need of clean water. Our goal is to create a solar water purification system, which requires us to do two things. One is to design a water purification system, and the other is to design a solar energy supply device. The water purification system consists of RO system and pump, therefore, we need to design the RO system and pump, as well as their corresponding circuits powered by solar energy.
Goals and Milestones
Our main goal is to achieve the filtration, purification, and storage of seawater, using seawater as input, purifying with clean energy, and outputting and storing fresh water. For this, it is necessary to design filtration systems, energy supply systems, storage systems, and wastewater treatment systems.
Fall Quarter 2024:
- Week 8: Complete preliminary CAD model of system
- Week 10: Complete Part Buy List and Assembly Guide; calculate final system values
Winter Quarter 2025:
- Week 3: Finish Protype Assembly; Begin iterative system testing and modification
- Week 8: Finalize Desalination Assembly
- Week 10: Demonstrate fully functioning small-scale desalination plant that operates on an alternative energy source
