Glide&Slide - Bottle Lift and Transfer Project - Team17B
- Background
Glide&Slide has identified a need for improved bottle handling in industrial production lines. Current systems face challenges with space constraints and operational flexibility, impacting efficiency and productivity. To address this, Glide&Slide is developing a new bottle lift device. The bottle lift device needs to be compact, free-standing, and battery-operated. It may not extend underneath the landing platform and must allow for the bottle to start no greater than 2" from the ground. The lift must maintain the bottle’s upright position throughout the journey and landing on the platform. Once the water bottle is placed onto the landing platform within the designated landing box, the lift must return to its original position and be ready to repeat the motion with a second bottle, much like the repeatability of an assembly line. Our design aims to be cheap, efficient, and effective while providing the same features as traditional assembly line devices.

Goal and Objectives
- The overarching goal of the project is to create a working lift to move an unopened water bottle onto a platform. The first milestone is to brainstorm initial design ideas and issues that we need to address.
- Once an initial design is created, a second milestone is to create a working CAD design, and manufacture a prototype. We hope to begin testing our prototype by week 5.
- Once we are able to determine if our prototype requires large redesigns, we will move forward with the iteration process, and complete a finalized mechanical prototype by the beginning of week 7.
- With the remaining 3 weeks, we plan to test our code that allows for the movement of the individual parts, and troubleshoot any electrical, software, or mechanical issues we encounter.
- By the beginning of week 10 we plan to have a completed project to present to our sponsor, giving us a week to ensure that the design and capabilities are sound and reach the goal of the project.
