This past June, the UCI Rocket Project Solids team attended the 2026 International Rocket Engineering Competition where they participated in the 10k SRA, Space Dynamics Laboratory Payload Challenge, and the Video Challenge. During the competition, UCI Rocket Project Solids placed 7th in the 10k SRAD Motor Category and 28th overall out of 150+ international teams. The team also received a Payload Honorable Mention.
Other than the competition, the team had many successes this year. Within the past year, UCI Rocket Project Solids had three successful Night Fury Launches, developed functional airbrakes over 6 months, and created their first-ever in-house composite airframes. They had a successful development and characterization of their APCP propellant and, during one of their launches, had the most data collected during a launch ever. At the 2026 Annual Senior Design Review, the team received the Dean's Choice Awards.
