At the 2026 Formula SAE Competition this past May, Anteater Formula Racing passed the full tech inspection first try which allowed them to compete in the dynamic events for the first time since 2019. The team placed 10th place in Acceleration and 51st overall out 117 teams. Instagram: @anteaterformularacing.
UCI’s 2026 FSAE IC (Internal Combustion) race team traveled to the Michigan Speedway, Brooklyn, MI (Fig. 1) to compete against 111 collegiate engineering teams from around the world over four days, May 13-16.
This competition consists of design, presentation, and cost static events, and acceleration, skid pad, autocross and endurance dynamic events. Maximum score is 1000 pts across all events.
UCI passed technical inspection and was ready for the dynamic events on Friday, May 15. (Fig. 2)
Off to a good start, UCI placed 10th in Acceleration (Fig. 3). However, Skid Pad 41 and Autocross 46 (Fig. 4) were a challenge, and the car did not finish the Endurance race. Overall UCI finished 51st with a score of 336, which was a successful return to this competition after years of recovery since COVID. (Fig. 5)
UCI was one of nine California schools at this competition with USC, Berkeley, Cal State Northridge, Cal Poly Pomona, Sacramento State, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Chico and Loyola Marymount University. The USC 7 and Berkeley 10 teams were in the top 10 with scores of 741 and 688, respectively.
