UCI CubeSat - Antenna Deployment Mechanism
Background: The UCI CubeSat project aims to launch a 2U micro-satellite into orbit with the goal of testing a variable emissivity material sample. This material is being researched as a way to control temperature on space vehicles and equipment. Space Radio is a group of 5 undergraduate students that are working alongside the CubeSat team to create a deployment mechanism for the antenna onboard the satellite. Our antenna deployment team will develop a mechanism to deploy a 4-monopole antenna system for communication between the satellite in orbit and the UCI ground station.
Goal and Objectives:
- Final CAD design of antenna deployment mechanism by 10/31/2022
- Finalize a list of requirements and limitations for our design with CubeSat subteams.
- Ensure that all requirements and attributes are met
- Make an effective antenna deployment mechanism that integrates with the rest of the CubeSat components.
- Complete a functional prototype of the mechanism by 12/2/2022
