CD-Fluidics Team

Background: Whole blood is comprised of plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. For the purposes of this project, we are primarily focused on the plasma itself as it contains the COVID-19 antibodies which we are interested in. After initial centrifugation, the plasma is separated from the rest of the blood constituents. At this point, it is necessary for the red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets to be isolated from the rest of the plasma prior to the reciprocation process in order to avoid contamination during the immunoassay.

Goal and Objectives: Find a method to effectively separate plasma from the rest of the whole blood so that red blood cells do not interfere with the immunoassay test for COVID-19 antibodies during the reciprocation process.
